Indiana Grown, the state directory, publishes this farm's own description: "New Hope Lavender, LLC stands as a family-owned business driven by our deep passion for cultivating lavender and various herbs. Our journey commenced in 2014, inspired by visits to lavender farms in different states. The catalyst was a challenge from a business associate who doubted our ability to grow lavender in our clay-rich soil. Drawing on our agricultural upbringing and agronomy expertise, we embraced the challenge, determined to prove our colleague wrong. Embarking on an exploration of lavender cultivation, we planted diverse varieties in distinct test plots, employing various soil amendments and drainage solutions. Seeking guidance and education from lavender conferences and fellow farmers, we honed our approach. Through experimentation, we identified optimal practices tailored to our soil type. What began as a challenge evolved into a hobby and, in 2020, blossomed into a full-fledged business. Currently, our rural Owen County, Indiana property boasts 800 lavender plants of different varieties, encompassing both oil and culinary types. Our mission extends beyond cultivation; we aim to enlighten the public about lavender's growth intricacies and its physical and mental health benefits. Demonstrations held on our farm and at markets throughout the year serve as educational platforms. In addition to lavender cultivation, we craft a diverse array of lavender products, including cold press soaps, linen sprays, lotions, lip balms, sachets, and bundles to name a few. Collaborating with local maple syrup farmers and mead producers in our county, they incorporate our culinary lavender into delightful products they create and sell. At New Hope Lavender, we are committed to sharing the wonders of lavender cultivation and its holistic properties with the community." We believe sustainable small farming is possible only by first tending to the health of the soil and water. We have spent the past two decades working to improve soil health and to ensure clean water for growing pastures lush with nutrient rich forages allowing for both our animals and our soil to thrive. We value the importance of small farms in our community, not only to provide local fiber and healthy food, but also to share the importance of small farms as a way of life. We believe it is important for everyone to know their food and fiber and those who produce it. Indiana Grown, the state directory, publishes this farm's own description: "We, Kyle and Emily Becker, established Becker Farms in 2007 in northeast Henry County, as an avenue to provide customers with high-quality, safe freezer beef. Over time, we have expanded our farm to include: chickens, turkeys, pigs, and hens. Kyle was raised on a dairy-beef-and-grain farm in Wayne County. He has a B.S. in animal science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Purdue University. He works as a food animal veterinarian for Becker Food Animal Health Services. Emily grew up in Kokomo, without an agricultural background, but has learned a lot about this important, ever-changing field since enrolling in the College of Agriculture at Purdue University where she earned a B.S. in food science. Emily continued her education with a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from Indiana University. Emily is blessed to be at home raising and home educating our two daughters, Charlotte and Stella and our three sons, Griffin, Wyatt, and Everett. She also helps on the farm and with Kyle's veterinary practice. It is our goal to not only produce healthful, nutrient-dense foods for you and your family to enjoy but to also do so in an environmentally-responsible manner. When we purchased our farm in 2007, it had been planted in row-crops for several decades and the health of the soil was dreadful. Thanks to Kyle's hard-work and determination to leave [the soil health of] our farm to our children (and children's children) in a much-better state than when we found it. It is our belief that healthy soil produces healthy pasture which produces healthy livestock (which is in line with Michael Pollan's You are what you eat eats' thinking). On that note, it was Pollan's 2006 book, The Omnivore's Dilemma, that inspired some of our approaches to farming. During the summer, we attend the Carmel Farmers Market and the Fishers Farmers Market. For the winter season, we attend the Carmel Winter Farmers Market. Additionally, we are on Market Wagon year-round. We would eventually like to have a store-front at our farmone of the many projects on our wish list. Please see our "Farmers Market Locations" tab and select either the summer or winter season for the dates, location, and time of our farmers market whereabouts. We truly love connecting with our customers and welcome your questions and feedback. 🥩 Beef🍗 Chicken🧺 Farm stand🥓 Pork
Indiana Grown, the state directory, publishes this farm's own description: "
Can you make a living farming on less than 100 acres?
Most farmers will tell you that it is not possible. Decreasing profit margins have forced farms to get bigger and more efficient just to survive. While the modern farm can produce large amounts of commodity crops very efficiently, they are operating on very thin profit margins. In many aspects, most modern farms are too big to fail; after all they provide much of the nation's cheap food. Government subsidies and borrowed money ensure many large farms can keep operating year after year. Our quest for cheap food in this nation has been a success, but at the cost of the livelihood of the American farmer and everyone's health. This was the challenge facing Joe Golliher if he was going to return to work on the family farm after graduating college in 2014: how to produce enough income farming without falling into the modern farming trap." Indiana Grown, the state directory, publishes this farm's own description: "
Our Story: The Original Swayzee, IN Hand Breaded Tenderloin
The Market at Swayzee has been a staple in the Grant County, Indiana community for over 100 years. With only a few owners in this long history, current owners Jim and Allison Cruea are committed to carrying on the long time traditions such as: quality customer service and preserving the nearly 20 original recipes that were inspired by the Market. It became obvious to Jim and Allison that the recipe for the Original Swayzee Indiana Hand Breaded Tenderloin was a clear favorite among the Market's customers. In November of 2014, the Market went through a rebranding and changed the business model of the Market to focus on their bestseller. Major plan renovations, along with acquiring State inspected approvals were the first steps in the new business model. The Market at Swayzee began the process of streamlining mass production of the Original Swayzee Indiana Hand Breaded Tenderloin, all the while maintaining the integrity of the product by continuing to hand cut, trim and bread the loin. This process continues today and the Market at Swayzee has become the Hand Breaded Tenderloin capitol of Indiana. They supply these delicious Tenderloins to wholesale and retail businesses, restaurants and, most recently have entered into the fundraising market for local non-profits. In February of 2015, the Market at Swayzee partnered with the Big Jaws district of Youth for Christ in Indiana. This partnership is committing to donate 10% of all profits to this Organization. 🍯 Honey
Indiana Grown, the state directory, publishes this farm's own description: "Pappaw's Hunny Farm is a small, but growing, honey farm nestled two miles north of Hagerstown, IN, a charming small town in northwest Wayne County. Our interest in honey bees grew out of our general desire to lead a simpler life, allowing our ten acres to provide for as many of our needs as possible. The honey bee adventure began with 4 hives in 2010 and has grown exponentially since then! In addition to our worker bees, we have other residents you may enjoy should you choose to visit. We have some Scottish Highland cattle lumbering around the field with a couple miniature donkeys scampering about. The donkeys often see people as a source for treats and come up to see what you have to offer. Chickens and rabbits are also awaiting attention on our farm. Rounding out our furry residents are a couple of barn cats that will make themselves scarce when people arrive and our wonderfully bossy mini schnauzer who wants nothing more than all your attention!Mission Statement:Our mission is to protect and preserve honeybees in East Central Indiana by offering educational opportunities and quality honey and beekeeping products inspired by an overall effort at sustainable living." Indiana Grown, the state directory, publishes this farm's own description: "
ABOUT US

Both coming from backgrounds in family farming, Jake and I have a long-standing passion for animal agriculture. When we got married and began discussing starting a family, we both knew that there was no other place to raise our kids than on a family farm with livestock. When I was nearing the end of my pregnancy with our oldest daughter, Finley, Jake called me to say that a 50-acre farm had come up for sale and he wanted to look at it. I was skeptical. I was in my final semester of graduate school and we were about to become parents. I agreed to walking the property just to humor him. However, the second we stepped foot on this land, we were sold. The rest is history.

It's been a challenging few years getting the ranch off the ground. While we rely mostly on each other during the day-to-day, we could not have made this dream a reality without the help of friends and family. Now that these visions we talked about for years are finally coming to fruition, we are dreaming bigger than ever!
" Products as the directory lists them: Beef, Beef Cattle, Meat & Poultry.

🐑 Lamb
Indiana Grown, the state directory, publishes this farm's own description: "ABOUT US The Russell Sheep Company story started a long time ago when Diane, at age 3, was given a pair of orphan lambs. Those two ewes grew into a small flock, and a 10 year 4-H project. When Diane married grain farmer Paul, the sheep came along as well. Over the years the Russell's flock grew to 170 ewes. Then we began reducing our numbers, eventually having only eight ewes. At that time youngest son, Jeremy, was in his fifth year of 4-H, and he expressed interest in improving our genetics and increasing our numbers. It was at that time that we purchased our first Slack ram. Our flock was Suffolk based, and our focus was to produce functional, productive sheep that excelled in carcass quality. Slack genetics helped us achieve that goal. Our flock size doubled in 2009 with the purchase of the Phil Hofman flock that was loaded with champion Slack and McLaughlin/Griffin genetics. That same year we started direct marketing meat from the flock through farmer's markets. Demand for local lamb provided the incentive to grow the flock, reaching our maximum size of 220 breeding ewes in 2018. Direct marketing premium lamb has been a blessing and our loyal customer base has given us all the incentive we needed to work hard to provide that excellent meat product. Now, in 2022, we have decided to close the meat side of our business and focus on providing Suffolk breeding and show stock. It is always rewarding to see the cream of the crop (lamb crop, that is) compete in the show ring. And Russell Sheep Company has excelled in that arena as well. Because we have focused on superior carcass quality and structural correctness, our lambs compete well in both market and breeding classes. The culmination of years of breeding gave us quite a thrill in 2013 as we bred and exhibited the Grand Champion Slick Shorn Ewe at the North American International Livestock Exposition. Since that time, we have consistently placed in the top five of competitive slick sheared Suffolk classes. And in 2021, we exhibited the grand champion Suffolk ram at the Indiana State Fair, and the Jr. Res. Champion at NAILE." Products as the directory lists them: Sheep, N/A.

🥬 Produce
Indiana Grown, the state directory, publishes this farm's own description: "Adam Weber and his wife, Anna, established the first apple orchard on the property when they purchased the land on February 28, 1924. He and his wife later sold the property to the Sisters of St. Francis on September 19, 1930. The Sisters continued the orchard and used the fruits for their Motherhouse Convent located in Oldenburg. At that time, mostly apples were grown in the orchard. It was the mission of the Sisters to be self-sustaining and Anthony C. Doll, (George's father) was hired as caretaker of the orchard. He also cared for the vegetable gardens and raised chickens for the Sisters of St. Francis. Anthony's father, J. George Doll, had an apple orchard in nearby Batesville, Indiana so Anthony brought knowledgeable experience to his new position working for the Sisters. In 1970, the Sisters of St. Francis sold the land, including the orchard, to the Doll family and a family partnership was established. At that time, the orchard was showing signs of decline. Trees were replanted and improvements made for retail sales. Several years after the death of Anthony C. Doll, the partnership was dissolved and the orchard was divested to the partnership's members. George and Patty Doll took title to the orchard laying East along Tony Road and they turned their interests to a wholesale operation. So, George and Patty Doll, Doll's Orchards, LLC, have replanted their section of the orchard with popular varieties such as Gingergold, Gala, Jonagold, Jonathon, Empire, Red Delicious, Yellow Delicious, Honeycrisp, Mutsu, Valstar, Cortland, McIntosh, Winesap (two varieties), Yellow Supreme, Chesapeake, Northern Spy, Anoka, Valstar and Braeburn. Peach trees were also planted and both yellow and white peaches are available. Thornless blackberries have been added to the production. Wholesale sales are an integral part of the operation. Farmers' Markets are also important to the overall sales plan. Doll's Orchards, LLC produce fruit by conventional growing methods. As caretakers of the soil, good land management practices are of the utmost importance. Proper fertilization, tree pruning, minimal use of chemicals and staying abreast of agricultural advances are viewed as their responsibilities as caretakers of the orchard. Most of the labor is done by family members but during the busy harvest, several local individuals help in the labor intensive job of picking the fruit. All fruit is hand picked and washed before going to market. You may say, George has been in the orchard business for his entire life. He and his sons follow in the footsteps of his grandfather and father and continue the Doll Family Tradition. Patty, however, became involved in apple production when she and George were married over forty years ago. No one ever said, Love, Honor, and Grow Apples, but indeed that is what it has become. As owners of Doll's Orchards, LLC, George and Patty see their role as delivering quality produce, in a timely manner, at competitive prices, to their customers. This policy allows their customers to meet individual market demands, resulting in added profit margins. They invite you to view their produce at local Farmers' Markets, some area festivals and their Tony Road sales location just outside of Oldenburg, Indiana. The Doll family business continues to grow for you! " Products as the directory lists them: Fruits, Orchard, Jellies, Apple Sauce, Apple Butter, Apples and Peaches.

Indiana Grown, the state directory, publishes this farm's own description: "
Our Story:
Maple Hill Naturals began in 2010 as a one mom company facing the challenges of washing and drying cloth diapers in coin operated laundry machines. From diversity and hundreds of quarters later, came the first Maple Hill Dryer Balls. These all wool balls were and continue to this day to be made from wool sourced right here in the United States from the family farm in West Lafayette, Indiana. In the beginning these wool dryer balls were for personal use. As friends and family began to ask for wool dryer balls, for their own laundry, the idea of a company was born. Starting with a Facebook page and an Etsy account Maple Hill Dryer balls was up an running and growing quickly. Maple Hill Dryer Balls continued to grow steadily and in 2013 saw the addition of several new product lines. These new lines reflecting customer interest in natural solutions to traditional store bought products. These new lines consisted of natural soaps, shampoos, and laundry powders. With this newly expanded product line up the old Maple Hill Dryer Balls name no longer truly reflected the direction of the company and the name was officially changed to Maple Hill Naturals, LLC. The following year brought on the addition of yet more naturally inspired products with our Shepherd's Friend natural skin balm and our C.B. Rowan's line of natural mens products. 🥛 Dairy
Indiana Grown, the state directory, publishes this farm's own description: "Our friends and neighbors around the Coulee region were discarded by a bankrupt agricultural system, and we were told to get big, or get out! Industrial, chemical farming was the only existing option for survival. Never mind its effects on our health, our animals, and our environment. But we didn't want to be industrial, chemical farmers. And we didn't want to be at the mercy of corporate agriculture. We knew we had to do something. So one farmer, George Siemon, put up posters calling us to band together. And we did. Family farmers filled the county courthouse and we all agreed: There had to be a better waya more sustainable wayto continue farming like we always had. In a way that protects the land, animals, economy and people's health. And that's how our farmer-owned cooperative was born." Products as the directory lists them: Dairy Products. I have always had a concern for the food we eat from the store so when we moved to the farm I decided to grow as much of our own food as we could so we knew what all went into it and what chemicals or medicine were used. Once we started doing this and realized the taste difference and value of knowing where the food came from I knew I had enough room, knowledge and most of the equipment to do it on a slightly larger scale. It was then I decided we could sell to our friends and neighbors healthier and more nutritious food than what the grocery store has to offer. What started as a "hobby farm" ten years ago with our Trakehner horses evolved when we were introduced to Wagyu Cattle. We fell in love with them and that was the beginning of Voils Family Wagyu. For the past 7-8 years, our Wagyu has been born bred, and raised on our farm. On our farm, we strive for a low-stress environment for our Wagyu. They are free-range pasture-raised with us having daily interaction with them. Our Wagyu are raised all natural with NO use of hormones, steroids, or antibiotics. They are provided fresh water, free choice vitamin-mineral, and all-natural protein tubs, as well as hay that comes directly from our farm. Our haylage is baled out of a mix of alfalfa, rye, and sorghum-sudangrass hay. This is mixed with our dry timothy-based grass hay. They receive a developer grain mix and then a finisher grain mix until they are processed. These mixes are made specifically for our Wagyu and assist in the growth, marbling, and health benefits of our Wagyu. It is our mission to raise high-quality Wagyu for our customers." Unfortunately, at yoga studios across the US, there is a huge lack of integrity, accessibility, and inclusion with how these practices are being shared. HSF is a not for profit yoga homestead and studio located in the quaint rural town of Pine Village, Indiana. Aubrey, is committed to compassionate connection and growth and with well over 20 years of formally practicing yoga in this lifetime and multiple professional yoga certifications under her yoga belt, she is the lead yoga facilitator at HSF.
