Alaska grows more than most people expect, and the state keeps the list to prove it. Alaska Grown is run by the Division of Agriculture, and its member directory publishes a street address and a map pin for every farm along with what that farm sells. That gave us 339 farms in 43 towns, most of them in the Matanuska Valley around Palmer and Wasilla, the Tanana Valley around Fairbanks and Delta Junction, and the Kenai Peninsula around Homer and Soldotna. 210 grow vegetables, 64 sell honey, 54 sell eggs and 40 sell beef, and 68 grow peonies, which is Alaska's own crop: the flowers open in July and August when peonies have finished everywhere else in the world. The 52 farmers markets come from the Alaska Farmers Market Association, and 45 of them already carry a 2026 season.

Half of the original homestead was sold with an additional six acres subdivided from the remaining homestead acreage for family homes. Chris DuBois and Nancy Davidian then purchased the remaining 74 acres. In October 2009, after the major renovation of a 1300 square foot log cabin on the farm, they opened Onig's Cabin, a bed & breakfast.
