Beef is described as pasture raised, stress free handling, USDA processed, vacuum sealed and frozen. The Connecticut Grown map lists it under Farms and Farm Stands/Stores. In the farm's own words on the state map: "We like to say we practice gentle farming. No till, no harmful chemicals, no pesticides, no hormones, no antibiotics. Our beef cattle are grass pastured spring through fall and during the winter are fed local hay harvested from our friend's farm down the road. They are given lots of stress-free attention. Our meat and egg laying heritage chickens are outside year round foraging our fields and lay our customer-favorite eggs. Our vegetable offerings change annually as we rotate crops and experiment with different varieties. The farm food we offer changes seasonally and varies. Pasture-Raised Meat & Eggs in Connecticut: the questions people ask

What does "pasture-raised" mean on this page?

It means the farm says so about itself. Farms that say their animals live on pasture. Ask each farm what that looks like through the winter, since the answer differs. We record the wording and the page we read it on, and we never certify a farm ourselves or infer one practice from another.

When does the season start and end for farms in Connecticut in 2026?

11 of the 18 pasture-raised farms we list in Connecticut publish their own dates, so here is what they say rather than a general rule. Henny Penny Farm in Ridgefield: The Ridgefield farm store is open for drop-in shopping on Tuesdays 10am to 1pm. From May 2026 the...

Which pasture-raised farms in Connecticut are confirmed open for 2026?

2 of the 18 have current-year evidence on their own site or an official directory, which is the only thing we count as confirmed. Henny Penny Farm in Ridgefield: The Ridgefield farm store is open for drop-in shopping on Tuesdays 10am to 1pm...

Do I need to book ahead or buy tickets in advance in Connecticut?

1 of the 18 sell tickets online or ask you to book, and the rest take you at the gate as far as they say publicly. Double A Ranch in New Fairfield: sells tickets or bookings through its own site

Which pasture-raised farms in Connecticut are cash only?

None of the 18 say they are cash only. 8 say they take cards or an app. The rest do not publish how they take payment, so we do not say either way. Every listing here links to the page we read it on and the date we checked.
