This Choose and Cut Christmas tree farm was started by Frank Barick in 1978, five years before he retired from the NC Wildlife Resources Commission. His son, Brad Barick, took over management of the farm in 2014, to carry on his father's legacy and he became owner in 2020. Since no new trees had been planted since 2008, old stock trees had become overgrown and hundreds of trees had to be cleared before new planting could begin. New plantings began in 2017, and many of those trees will be available for sale for Christmas season 2020. In 2020, some 2000 additional new trees were added including: 550 White Pines, 350 Virginia Pines, 200 Southern Red Cedars, 400 Green Giant ArborVitae, 200 Leyland Cypress, and 300 Carolina Sapphires.
