| How to buy | We started Scissortail Farms in 2022 after Eric retired from the US Military. Our intent in starting the farm was simple: we wanted to know what was in our food. In 2017, Jen experienced severe allergic reactions traced back to chicken. After buying pasture-raised chicken at a local farmer's market, we realized the allergy was from grocery store poultry. The pandemic gave us more time and interest in learning more about where our food comes from and just how insecure our food supply is in the US. We read everything we could get our hands on and watched more farm videos on YouTube than we could count. We consider ourselves disciples of Joel Salatin and Chuck Lewis from Sheraton Park Farms, as we are focused on pasture-raising high-quality meats.
