🍯 Honey🥬 Produce

We're Tony and Deloris Jones, and we are the proud owners of Chulahoma's Garden, a 100% black owned, family run farm. We grow vegetables throughout the season which are available beginning in May with a large variety of produce throughout the summer and early Fall and finishing up with a variety of greens through December. We specialize in leafy greens of all varieties, lettuce, squash and peppers, both hot and bell. While we are not a certified organic farm, we are currently using the following water, soil and land conservation methods: high tunnels with drip irrigation, plastic mulching, no harmful pesticides or herbicides and have a pollinator habitat. We are currently working toward making our practices more sustainable every day. We pour our heart and soul into our farm. This is a passion of ours to be able to grow what we eat. We started from bare bones and we are building and learning day by day. Chulahoma's Garden products will not only be great natural products but it will be beneficial to your body. This is just the beginning. What make me most proud about producing Genuine MS products is we know exactly where the produce comes from. We know is it home grown, good for you and a much healthier options than any processed food or ingredient. We at Chulahoma's Garden take the time to gain the knowledge and understanding to produce the best products we can. We make sure you get the best of what is need to be a healthier you. Producing Genuine MS products will also help with community to have someone local to get fresh produce from. Rural Mississippi is a food desert with very limited access to supermarkets with fresh produce. Investing in local growers will not only increase fresh, local food sales direct to Mississippi families, but it will help to sustain the business of local growers, enabling us to continue to be a resource for consumption of local, fresh produce for years to come. Buying Genuine MS products has a proven economic impact on African American owned, small holder farmers in the Mississippi Delta, enabling more sustained small agriculture and low-pesticide farming to continue as part of the full Ag industry in the region, an effort where few organizations are truly focusing investment. Anyone who wants to support sustained small agriculture, particularly black owned and operated farms should seek out Genuine MS products, that includes any buyers who are truly invested in either consuming themselves or providing easier access to fresh and locally grown food.

Our farm started in 2018 with the idea of providing fresh produce, and culinary and medicinal herbs for our family. We grew it to the point where we had plenty to share with friends and family. What started as providing our family with healthy choices turned into a reality of making fresh produce locally grown produce available to our community. With a focus on training how to maximize profitability on your most valued resource (Land). We are currently working toward making our practices more sustainable every day. Colemans Farm believes that planting seeds in the earth will grow fresh vegetables, however, planting a seed in the minds of young people will create a new universe of scholars. Living every day to be an inspiration for change, James was just awarded the Veteran Small Business Owner for 2024, Chairman of the FSA LAA committee, and Commissioner Carroll County Soil and Water Conservation District in September 2024. After 44+ years serving in the military James traded his combat gear for farm boots. He participates with the United States Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service, (NRCS) to ensure his farm is productive and environmentally friendly. while he also wants to use it as an educational tool for people not accustomed to new ways of Farming. Having students and others come train at the farm is valuable in improving access to healthy foods and how people look at making healthy options more available. Supporting Mississippi farmers gives the people of our state a better connection to the land on which we were born and on which many generations have come and gone. Local farmers tend to be more sensitive in protecting the land they are connected to and more likely to pass on farming to future generations, thereby improving food stability in the state and reducing the dependence on outside sources. Locally grown food tends to provide more variety as well as better taste as the food does not have to travel long distances and is fresher when consumers purchase it. Last but not least, purchasing Mississippi-grown produce puts money back into our local economies. Farms employ workers and purchase goods as well as contribute to local communities. Genuine MS products allow the consumers of MS to promote local farming and experience the richness that is MS. Geneva Springs Farm

2025 verified · 2026 TBA

📍 Pickens, MS

🥬 Produce

Geneva Springs Farm is devoted to finding and promoting natural growing techniques. It is our goal to teach individuals and groups different methods of farming. We look to reduce work, increase production and help provide food security. We specialize in heirloom and unusual crops and look to explore growing methods that accommodate individuals with special needs (physical limitations, space limitations, etc.). To support our goals, the farm produces a variety of products for sale including pepper sauce, pepper flakes, dried peppers and various other goods made from produce grown here. Starting in 2020, we will offer more fresh goods including cabbage, collards, peppers, tomatoes, squash, watermelon, sweet potatoes and other vegetables. We will also have seeds and plants available in the spring. Geneva Springs Farm was born of a love of gardening instilled by my grandmother, Geneva Hilliard Sturgis, and a challenge from a man I consider family, Joe DeBlasio, who explained that a Hot Portugal Pepper could not be grown in MS. He, of course, did not know it was a challenge at the time. From those two formative events, Geneva Springs Farm was born. It is dedicated to producing naturally grown crops that are not routinely found on most farms or in individual gardens. We specialize in heirloom and hybrid crops that have often have a special place in history and many people's memories of farming as children. Our crops have geographic significance as some seeds have come from countries sometimes devastated by wars and natural disasters; seed saving has been made a priority to prevent the loss of these plants. We also seek to introduce many traditionally heirloom crops to the community at large. All of our sauces, flakes, pickles, etc. come from produce naturally grown on our farm. First and foremost we are a family and our products are family, tested, approved, and sold. At Geneva Springs Farm, we love a challenge. Our farm is most proud that we grow a variety of crops, many of which are not known to the consumers in our local community. We look forward to trying new varieties of peppers, tomatoes, squash, eggplant, collards, cabbage and other crops and introducing our fellow Mississippians to new ways of growing food, cooking and eating. Supporting Mississippi farmers, gives the people of our state a better connection to the land on which we were born and on which many generations have come and gone. Geneva Springs Farm produces goods with no additives from naturally grown produce. Pepper flakes contain only the peppers listed. Pepper sauce has not salt added. We offer a variety of sauces and flakes which give our customers a wide variety of tastes. Honestly Beef

🥩 Beef🥬 Produce

Why Buy Locally? The cattle that we provide are Grass-Fed and Grain-Finished, and spend their entire life free-ranging pastures. These animals are never given antibiotics; it is unnecessary because the animals are never crowded in their pastures. Our animals are also never given growth hormones. Without the growth hormones, our free-range cattle need to be around 24 months old before they mature to the point they are ready for harvest. Once harvested, each beef side is dry-aged to perfection (usually 7 to 14 days). Then, each beef side is hand-cut and trimmed into the delicious steaks and beef products that we offer our customers. Our goal is to bridge the gap between the farm & the dinner table, allowing our consumers access to locally raised beef they can feel good about feeding to their family! Environmentally Sustainable. Our cattle are harvested on our own fresh grass in native pasture. We occasionally provide supplemental hay/grain, to ensure a natural and healthy diet. We use humane methods to herd our cattle frequently and holistically maintain our grasslands that also feed local and migrating wildlife. The meat is ready for pickup, or delivery can be arranged. We are not certified organic, but raise grass-fed, grain-finished, hormone- and antibiotic-free meat. Due to seasonal conditions, we will finish our cattle off on grain; this is only neccessary during times of the year when grass is in short supply. Our tender and delicious beef is lean and nutritious, providing known health benefits that only grass-fed animals can produce. Our meat is dry aged for 7-14 days and is USDA inspected. Genuine MS lists this farm's products as Ground Beef, Roasts, Brisket, Filet of Tenderloin Steaks, NY Strip Steaks, Ribeye Steaks, Top Sirloin Steaks, Flanks & Flat Iron Steaks, Short Ribs & Rib Rack, Beef Tips, Soup Bones, Oxtail, Tongue, Liver, Heart, Kidney, & Cheek, Smoked Link Sausages and Liver Doggie Treats.

Certified Organic Farms in Mississippi: the questions people ask

What does "USDA organic" mean on this page?

It means the farm says so about itself. Farms that state they hold USDA organic certification. Certification is a real, checkable thing, so this is the firmest claim on the site. We record the wording and the page we read it on, and we never certify a farm ourselves or infer one practice from another.

Which USDA organic farms in Mississippi are cash only?

None of the 10 say they are cash only. 3 say they take cards or an app. The rest do not publish how they take payment, so we do not say either way. Every listing here links to the page we read it on and the date we checked.
