In the farm's own words on the state map: "Urban Roots is a part of the nonprofit Chrysalis Center, located in the Upper North End of Hartford. We are a multiservice organization that focuses on housing, recovery, community support, employment, and food insecurity. The Urban Farming / Food Hub Program focuses on supporting those in Hartford's Food Deserts by suppling local and fresh grown produce year round. Chrysalis Center has two rooms in our hydroponic grow center that produces about 30 varieties of produce. While we also have two outdoor plots, one on the main campus that supports 30 raised beds". |
